Raleigh Fun Golfers General Rules of Play

These changes are designed to increase the pace of play, and will not affect the tournament prize results for gross or net scores, since the Fun Golfers already utilizes the “equitable stroke control” system of scoring for tournament purposes.

These revised scoring rules only apply to tournament scoring. Fun Golfers should continue to enter their actual scores, regardless of individual hole scores, into the Wil~Mar computer system for their individual play at Wil~Mar or other courses.  The triple bogey scoring rule only applies to Fun Golfers scheduled tournament events

* - indicates new rules/amendments effective January 2010

USGA rules will apply at all times except as modified below:

1.  “Winter rules” will apply in all play.  You may move your ball one club length (no closer to the hole) when it comes to rest
in the fairway of the hole you are playing.

2.  No “gimmees” or mulligans in tournament play.  You must putt out all greens (unless you have reached the triple bogey
     limit).

3.  If your ball is lost or comes to rest out of bounds (or in the woods) you may drop your ball two club lengths (no closer to
the hole) from the point where your ball went out of bounds (or in the woods).  The penalty for this is two strokes. If you
find your ball in bounds in the woods, you may play from that lie (without improvement) with no penalty.

4.  There is a 3-minute time limit to search for a lost ball.

5.   Rules governing water hazards:

            A.  If your ball goes into a water hazard on Hole #2, you may drop your ball in the designated area on the opposite
side of the hazard.  The penalty is one stroke.

            B.  From all other water hazards, you may drop your ball two club lengths (no closer to the hole) from the point
where your ball entered the hazard.  The penalty is one stroke.

6.  If the cart path or a cross tie interferes with your stance or your swing, you may move your ball one club length (no
closer to the hole) with no penalty.

7. On tournament days, all men will play from the gold tees and all women will play from the red tees.

8.  All players are expected to repair ball marks and rake sand traps as needed.

9. On tournament days, be sure to turn in an official scorecard for your group, with first and last names of every player in
the group clearly written on the card.  Scorecards submitted without full names of all players will not be counted in
    tournament results!

10. On tournament days, all players are expected to check in at the course at least 15 minutes prior to starting time.

Players who are on a “stand-by” list will be added into events no sooner than 15 minutes prior to starting time, and
     subject to space availability.

11.  Please play “ready golf” and maintain a good “pace of play”.

*12.  For tournament play, there will be a triple bogey scoring maximum on each hole.  Players who have not completed a
hole once they have reached a triple bogey score should pick up their ball, regardless of where the ball is located, and
record a triple bogey score on their scorecard for that hole.  The triple bogey maximum score for each hole would
        equate to:

bullet

Par 3 holes – maximum score recorded would be 6

bullet

Par 4 holes – maximum score recorded would be 7

bullet

Par 5 holes – maximum score recorded would be 8
